The bar a posting has to clear.
Before anything is prepared, a posting has to clear the bar you set. These are the actual settings on your account - not a description of one. A role that misses any of them is left where it is, and you can see why.
A match score floor
The default is 70 out of 100, scored against your resume rather than against keywords. Move it up when you want fewer, stronger applications; move it down to widen the net.
The ATS check has to pass
A tailored resume that a parser cannot read is not ready to send. On by default, and a role that fails it waits rather than going out.
Titles you want, and titles you do not
Words that must appear in the title, and words that rule a posting out. This is how "engineer" stops meaning "sales engineer" on your queue.
Countries and a salary floor
A role you cannot take is not a match. Set the countries you can work in and the least you would accept, and postings outside them never reach the queue.
One application per company
At most one application to the same employer in 30 days by default, so a company that posts six similar roles hears from you once, properly.
Nothing stale, nothing unwanted
Queue items expire rather than being sent late, and any company on your exclude list is never applied to at all.

Everything that clears the standard lands in the queue, already done: the resume tailored to that posting, the cover letter, the ATS pass, the employer's form filled in. Then the agent stops. Every posting is scored against your resume rather than against keywords, and the score comes with its working: the exact lines that earned it, which requirements are strong, which are partial, and which are genuinely missing. You are reading the same evidence Carir used, so you can disagree with it. A role you would clear on six requirements and miss on one reads very differently from a role you would miss on six.
Often, yes - job descriptions are wish lists, and few people match all of one. The useful question is which requirements you miss. Missing a listed tool you could learn in a week is not the same as missing the years of experience the role is built around. The agent separates the two for you: strong, partial and missing are shown per requirement, so the decision is yours and it is an informed one. We do not tell you your odds, because we do not know them.
It depends entirely on what the tool does before it applies. Sending the same resume to hundreds of postings is easy to automate and easy for employers to spot.
