AI in your job search: what to hand off and what to keep
Hand off the work that is repetitive and checkable: finding new postings, filtering out roles that miss your place or level, first drafts of cover letters and form answers, and keeping your tracker current. Keep the judgment: which roles you want, every claim about your experience, and the decision to send. Anything sent in your name should be something you could stand behind.

Hand off: finding and filtering
Reading every new posting in your field each morning is the most repetitive part of a search and the easiest to check. Let software find the new roles, drop the ones that miss your place, level and pay, and sort the rest by fit. You can see at a glance whether it got a role wrong.
Hand off: first drafts
Cover letters, answers to application questions and short notes to a hiring team are good work for AI, as first drafts. Read every one, cut what does not sound like you, and correct anything that is not true.
Keep: every claim about you
An AI writing tool will happily add a skill you do not have or stretch a responsibility you did not hold. Anything on your resume can come up in an interview. Carir's AI tailor works only from what your resume already contains: a requirement it cannot support is not added, and comes back to you as a gap.
Keep: the decision to send
An application is you speaking to an employer. On Carir, Auto Apply is off until you turn it on, and by default it prepares each application (the tailored resume, a cover letter, the form) and stops for you to send it. Sending on its own is a separate switch of yours that takes a second confirmation, and even then it holds back any application with an answer it is not sure of or wrote itself.
Five questions before any tool sends anything
- What exactly does it send, and can I read it first?
- Where does it send it: the employer's own form, or a third party?
- Can it add anything to my resume that I did not write?
- What does it do when it is not sure of an answer?
- Can I stop it at any time, and see what it already sent?

Questions people ask
Is it OK to use AI to write my resume?
As an editor, yes: AI is good at tightening wording and matching a posting's language. Every claim must still be true and yours, and you should read the result line by line.
Do auto-apply tools work?
They save time on forms; whether they help depends on what they send and to which roles. Our answer page Do auto-apply tools work? goes through what to check.
Will Carir apply to jobs without asking me?
Not unless you choose that. Auto Apply is off until you turn it on, and by default you send each application yourself. Sending on its own is a separate switch that needs a second confirmation.
Try it on your own search
Carir finds the roles employers posted today, scores each one against your resume with the lines that earned it, and tailors without inventing experience. The free plan includes the job board and the tracker.
